On vous a toujours dit au lycée, ne traduisez pas mot à mot. Eh bien, parfois les Américains devraient écouter ce conseil un peu mieux.
De temps en temps, les instructions sont en anglais, espagnol, et parfois français. Du coup, afin de m'la raconter, j'regarde un peu ce que les instructions françaises donnent. Eh bien, c'est pas fameux.
La plupart du temps, il y a au moins une faute d'orthographe (et encore... je suis plus très doué pour les voir maintenant, hein Mathilde). Maintenant, y'a des fois où on se demande ce qu'ils usent pour les traductions.
Par exemple, j'ai reçu une protection pour mon Ipod hier, et en lisant les instructions, je tombe sur :
Version en glaise : To assemble: Snap the bottom cover to the top cover.
Version Francaise : Se reunir, pour craquer le fond couvre en haut.
Nan nan je ne suis pas devenu dislexique, c'est bel et bien ce qu'il y a d'écrit.
Encore plus fort, juste à côté de ça :
Version en glaise : To remove: Insert coin in coin slot and twist front and back apart.
Version Francaise : Enlever, la piece d'insertion dans la fente et le tortillon a part.
... bref, j'aurais presque envie de les appeler pour leur demander qui a créé ce magnifique texte ...

Une récompense pour celui qui trouve quelque chose de pas trop mal.
Translations are something really difficult to do. I mean, it's not like you just have the translation for "car" in French. No. There are, of course, different meanings for every single word. And some expressions than you're going to use in one language than you can't in an other. So it's not something that you can do watching TV or combing your hair.
But sometimes, i wonder how most of the companies do theirs. You've certainly noticed that sometimes, you have instructions in English, Spanish, German, etc... and French. And i happen to know some French, yeah how surprising.
So most of the time, i'm going to try to see if the translations are good or not. Most of the time, i'd pick a different word, or way to use a verb, but translations are subjective.
But sometimes, i wish i could do their translation. Of course, i could quote you some of the worst translations i've seen, but... well nobody speaks French except me. But if you want to see them, it's in the French version, in blue =).
